Blue Dory at Fisheries Museum of the Atlantic Exhibit
Blue Dory
Hooked mat on exhibit at the Fisheries Museum of the Atlantic in Lunenburg, NS as part of the Rug Hooking Guild of Nova Scotia's Dory Stories Exhibit.
On exhibit from June 3 - Oct 9, 2016
Painting a boat blue is thought to bring bad luck, or so
this story goes. Two seasoned Bluenosers were fishing in a little blue dory off
Lunenburg harbour as the fog rolled in. They failed to return when the day lost
its light. Searches the next day proved fruitless as the blue of the dory
seemed to have melted into the blue of the ocean. But the astonished town folk
tell a tale of how the little blue dory miraculously reappeared, a month later,
docked at a fish shack. Another south shore mystery never to be solved.
